Creating Your First Question — Build Your First Interactive Widget
Introduction
Questions are the building blocks of Answe widgets. Each question presents a prompt to your visitors with answer options. Options can trigger follow-up questions, forms, product catalogs, or bookings — creating multi-step interactive experiences.
How It Works
Step 1: Write Your Question
Start with something your visitors would want to answer:
- "What are you looking for today?"
- "How can we help you?"
- "Would you like to make a reservation?"
- "What would you like to order?"
Keep it short, clear, and inviting.
Step 2: Add Answer Options
Options are the choices visitors see. Each option can do different things:
Simple examples:
- "Yes" / "No"
- "Order food" / "Book a table" / "Contact us"
- "Small" / "Medium" / "Large"
Click Add Option and type the option text. Add as many options as you need.
Step 3: Configure What Happens
Click on any option to configure its behavior:
Show a Message
Display a follow-up message when the option is selected. Great for confirmations or additional information.
Add a Form
Attach a form to collect information:
- Name, email, phone
- Custom text fields
- Dropdown selections
- Checkboxes
Link to Next Question
Create multi-step flows by linking to another question. This is how you build conversation trees.
Add Products
Attach a product catalog for shopping. Visitors can browse and add items to cart.
Add a Calendar
Enable booking by showing a calendar with available time slots.
Add an AI Agent
Let an AI respond to the visitor's message automatically.
Step 4: Preview and Test
Use the preview to see how your question looks in each widget type. Test the full flow by clicking through options.
Step 5: Embed or Share
Once your question is ready:
- Embed: Copy the embed code for your website
- Share: Share the direct link (
answe.com/username/question-id)
Building Multi-Step Flows
Connect questions together to create conversation flows:
"How can we help?"
├── "Place an order" → Show product catalog → Checkout
├── "Book a table" → Show calendar → Confirm booking
├── "Ask a question" → Show text form → AI agent responds
└── "Leave feedback" → Show feedback form → Thank you message
Each branch can have its own questions, forms, and actions.
Tips for Great Questions
- Be specific — "What size pizza?" is better than "Tell us more"
- Limit options — 3-5 options per question works best
- Use clear language — Avoid jargon or ambiguity
- Add follow-ups — Guide visitors through the complete journey
- Test on mobile — Make sure your flow works on small screens
